Our day begins at the Colosseum, where fast-track access takes the group straight past the long entrance lines and into the largest Roman amphitheater ever built. Walking its tiers, guests hear the stories of the bloody spectacles staged here and the reasons why this monumental building was raised.

From the Colosseum we move to the nearby Arch of Constantine and the Roman Forum, the square at the center of ancient Roman life. Here the Temple of Julius Caesar, built on the site of his cremation, stands beside the Arch of Titus, the House of the Vestal Virgins, the Senate House, the Basilica of Maxentius, and much more. These ruins show why the Forum was a melting pot of politics, religion, and society.

The second half of the visit carries that thread into the living city. Il Vittoriano, built in 1885 in honor of King Victor Emmanuel II and known to locals as the Wedding Cake, comes first, followed by the Quirinal Palace, the official residence of the current Italian President. We then reach the Trevi Fountain, mingle with the crowds at the Spanish Steps, stroll to Piazza Navona with its sensational fountains, and wander through the winding streets to the Pantheon.
